WHAT’S IN MY BAG?
I often get asked by fellow photographers (and sometimes even clients!) what kind of equipment I use, so I thought I would post a list of all my gear to satisfy your techy curiosity!
Canon 1Ds Mark III – This is my main body and I could not live without it! This body seriously rocks for any type of photography you might be doing. It is built like a tank and always just ‘works’, no matter what the circumstances. With 22 megapixels and a full frame sensor, the images this camera produces are beautiful!
Canon 5D – This is my backup camera. Autofocus isn’t as good as the 1 series bodies, but a great camera nonetheless!
Canon 5D Mark II – Sandy’s camera. For outstanding high ISO quality this is the best camera on the market! Definitely a great addition to our bag.
Canon 30D – Backup to my backup. You can never be too safe!
Canon 15 F2.8 Fisheye – I rarely pull this one out, but sometimes use it for creative wide shots and fun reception shots.
Canon 24L F1.4 – My all time favorite wide angle lens. I use this lens a lot during the preparation and for engagement sessions.
Canon 24 TS-E – Killer lens with an amazing effect! You gotta check this one out.
Canon 24-70L F2.8 – My favorite “all around” reception lens. This lens gets slapped on as soon as the first dance is over and usually for the duration of the reception. I really don’t use it too much outside of that as I tend to favor prime lenses both for their sharpness and required interactivity with my clients.
Canon 45 TS-E F2.8 – I pull out this guy a lot during architectural, portrait and group shots. It creates a very cool effect that no other lens can duplicate.
Canon 50L F1.2 – This is by far my ALL TIME favorite lens! It produces stunning colors and crisp images, even at F1.2. I could shoot an entire wedding with only this one lens if I had to….it is that good!
Canon 85L F1.2 – I use this lens for a lot of my portrait work as it produces the nicest images you have ever seen.
Canon 100mm F2.8 – This lens is used for all the ring shots and many other up close detail shots. Also doubles as an awesome portrait lens.
Canon 70-200L F2.8 – This lens is a must have for any wedding photographer. It was my first L lens and will always have a place in my bag. I tend to use this lens mostly for the ceremony, and sometimes for portraits too. Super sharp, fast, and built like a tank!
Canon 580EX Speedlight – I carry 4 of these at every wedding.
Pocketwizard Flex TT5 Transceivers – I carry 3 of these as well at all times. Great for creative portable off camera lighting when used with the Speedlights.
Lensbabie 2.0 – This toy gives a very unique look. Great for creative fun images, but image quality isn’t the greatest.
Sandisk CF cards – I carry 30GB of CF cards in various sizes.
